Q&As
-
Can we hold a symbolic ceremony at Domaine le Mezo?
Yes. The symbolic ceremony can be held indoors or outdoors, depending on your wishes and the season: the estate has many spaces with different atmospheres. You choose its order and readings, in English, French or both. The team helps you build the program around this moment, with remote planning and a bilingual welcome on site, from the first call to the day itself.
-
Can we organize a wedding over several days at the estate?
Yes. Your guests stay on site, so the wedding can stretch over several days: arrivals, rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception, then a farewell brunch. The main reception hall seats up to 350 guests, and the evening can carry on in the club. The team builds the program with you.
-
Does the team at Domaine le Mezo speak English?
Yes, the team in charge of weddings works in French and in English. You talk to us in English while planning your event, and your guests find people on site who speak their language. Your ceremony can be held in English, in French or in both languages.
-
How do I get to Domaine le Mezo from the United States?
Flights from the United States land in Paris: allow about 7 hours 30 from New York and 10 hours 45 from Los Angeles. A train then reaches Vannes in about 2 hours 30, and the station is around ten minutes from the estate. From another departure city, the flight time changes, and the journey from Paris stays the same.
-
How many guests can stay at the estate?
The estate has over 100 rooms and can house up to 250 guests across the Château, the Farm Houses and the other accommodation. For guests who have traveled far, that means being in the same place from the first evening to the brunch, with no hotel to find and no shuttles to arrange.
Why get married in France when you live in the United States?
Many American couples dream of a wedding in France for the table and for the rhythm of the days. In South Brittany, Domaine le Mezo adds a 25-hectare park with three ponds and century-old trees, 10 minutes from the Gulf of Morbihan.
The Château gathers every stage of the wedding on one estate. Planning across several time zones gets simpler when there are fewer contacts and fewer transfers. To explore the estate, visit our presentation of the Domaine.
For a Franco-American couple, France lies closer to some relatives than to others, and a shared stay on site puts everyone on an equal footing.
How can you plan a symbolic ceremony from the United States?
The symbolic ceremony can be held indoors or outdoors: the estate has many spaces with different atmospheres, which lets you adapt to the seasons. You shape its order and readings in the language of your choice, and you can give a moment to one relative from each family.
The civil marriage follows its own procedures: check with your town hall or consulate.
From the United States, you prepare this moment remotely with the bilingual team, from the order of the ceremony to the day’s program, then live it on site with your guests staying at the estate.
How can you bring two families and two cultures together on your wedding day?
In a Franco-American wedding, English and French meet at every table. The estate’s team is bilingual: you plan your wedding in the language of your choice, and your guests find people on site who understand them. Your Happy planner stays with you from the first conversation to the big day.
The program can blend the habits of both countries. The rehearsal dinner the night before and the next-day brunch, familiar on the American side, fit easily into a stay of several days. In the French way, the vin d’honneur (the drinks reception after the ceremony) comes before dinner, and the evening carries on in the estate’s club.
For the ceremony, you can hand a reading to one relative from each family, in the language they prefer. Naming one contact person per family for practical questions also leaves you free to enjoy your day. More ideas are available on our page about family celebrations at the estate.
How do you plan a multi-day wedding for guests travelling from the United States?
Bringing your loved ones over from the United States takes time, and a four-day stay often follows the same thread: settling in on Thursday, rehearsal dinner on Friday, symbolic ceremony and reception on Saturday, farewell brunch on Sunday. The time difference is generally six hours with New York and nine with California. Arriving a few days early gives everyone time to adjust.
Every guest sleeps on the estate. The Château suits the couple and their closest relatives, the 7 Farm Houses families who travel together, and the other accommodation groups of friends. Details are available on our page about large-group accommodation.
Between celebrations, your guests can set off to explore the region, from kayaking on the Gulf of Morbihan to the standing stones of Carnac.
How can you introduce your guests to French gastronomy?
For your American guests, the meal is one of the highlights of the stay. The cuisine at La Table du Mezo adapts to the seasons: Breton produce chosen from short supply chains comes partly from the kitchen garden that Yann, the head gardener, looks after. The restaurant holds 2 toques in the Gault & Millau guide.
In the kitchen, Kevin Gatin, who spent 14 years with Anne-Sophie Pic, works with pastry chef Franck Geuffroy, who spent 16 years with Alain Ducasse. Flag your guests’ allergies and diets early, as the team takes intolerances and diets into account. A scouting trip to France can also include the tasting.
Your wedding in France at Domaine le Mezo
Before setting a date, three points deserve a decision: the season, the language of the ceremony and the number of guests to accommodate. The estate’s team then supports you, remotely and then on site.
