Preserving Our Heritage

Contributing to a thriving local economy
Finally, the revenue generated by Le Mezo does more than just support the business. It helps energize the local economy by creating jobs and fostering commercial exchanges within our community.
THE STORY of a transformation
Marie and Sébastien, the two founders of Domaine Le Mezo, fell in love with the place the moment they discovered it in 2019. To acquire and restore this remarkable site, they brought together a team of wonderful partners and collaborators who were committed to preserving this heritage. A successful endeavor after more than two years of work, the transformation of Le Mezo has brought this exceptional place back to life.
Looking back in history, Domaine Le Mezo first appears in records in the 15th century. The château was built in the second half of the 18th century on the site of an old manor house first mentioned in 1427. Later, the outbuildings, the shed, and the greenhouse appeared in historical records starting in the second half of the 19th century. This entire historical heritage has been adapted to its era to continue its journey through the centuries.

PRESERVING HISTORY
A preserved and enhanced historical heritage
The earliest traces of the buildings at Domaine Le Mezo date back to the 15th century. This is a historical heritage that we have preserved and enhanced. The Château, with its cornice, moldings, and frescoes; the stables and barn, with their stonework, openings, and exposed beams… All the buildings have been renovated to restore their former splendor, but also to be lived in today and endure for tomorrow. You and we will be its guardians, preserving the memories of the past and the legacy of history, while creating those of tomorrow and the legacy of Le Mezo.
A Transformation from One Century to the Next
A Project in Step with Today’s Challenges
Le Mezo transformation project and the renovations carried out have been deeply shaped by today’s challenges. The project took root amid the turmoil of a health crisis, when the desire for nature, for reconnection, and for a getaway close to home became palpable. But above all, it emerged from the need for a collective commitment to the climate and the preservation of biodiversity. We thus aim to anchor Le Mezo in this new era, with its new challenges. Join us in this mission!
CONVIVIALITY & SHARING
Collectively ours
A vibrant community space created through collective effort
Le Mezo project came to life thanks to the support and collaboration of numerous public and private partners, as well as the personal support of friends, family, and colleagues. Today, Domaine Le Mezo—the events celebrated there, the moments of life shared there, the memories forged there, and the daily commitments made there—is collectively yours, collectively ours. We can thus be proud of the challenges we’ve overcome and the collective result we’ve achieved: a welcoming living space, open to the world and brimming with life.
Opening up and discovering oneself
Moments of life to share
Coming together. Sharing stories. Remembering. Meeting. Helping. Supporting one another. Working. Loving. To love. To marvel… All of this at once is Le Mezo. A place to share happy and warm moments. A place to work together and build tomorrow. A place to open up to others, to life, and to oneself. It is also a place to try new things and perhaps discover a new passion or new ambitions.
Nature & respect
Nature Takes Center Stage
A Rich Variety of Flora and Fauna
Thanks to its location in the heart of the Gulf of Morbihan Regional Nature Park, Domaine Le Mezo is blessed with abundant natural beauty. We have made nature a central focus here and will always place great importance on it. The English-style park and the forest of century-old trees, where you can stroll, enjoy a meal, and watch numerous plant and animal species grow and thrive. The orchard and vegetable garden provide seasonal harvests “Made In Le Mezo.” But simply observing and enjoying isn’t enough! We must maintain and develop this reservoir of biodiversity. We have therefore undertaken, and will continue to undertake, actions to serve this purpose.
Engage and commit
Concrete actions for the environment
We are genuinely concerned about the impact of our activities on biodiversity and the local environment. During renovations, we made sure to use the best materials, from thermal and sound insulation to the installation of an energy-independent heating system powered by on-site fuel production (miscanthus), with support from ADEME. We are taking steps to obtain certification for the estate. We will also encourage every guest and visitor to respect the surrounding biodiversity and to act responsibly during their stays and events. See our commitments >
Our Social and Environmental commitments
We want to contribute to the vitality of our beautiful region, its residents, artisans, and workers. We are aware of the environmental impact of Domaine Le Mezo’s operations and are firmly committed to minimizing it. That is why Le Mezo and its teams are dedicated to sustainable tourism and recreation, in line with the region’s priorities and in close collaboration with local partners.

Energy Management Active and Passive Technologies
At Domaine Le Mezo, reducing energy consumption is based on a comprehensive approach: combining passive solutions—integrated into the design of buildings and spaces—with active technologies dedicated to energy production, control, and optimization.
This combination makes it possible to limit energy needs at the source, prioritize local and renewable resources, and ensure guest comfort year-round.
Passive technologies Designing Buildings That Are Naturally More Energy-Efficient
Passive technologies refer to all design choices that reduce energy needs even before technical equipment is used.
At Domaine Le Mezo, this translates to:
- Enhanced thermal insulation for buildings, using natural, high-performance materials such as cork in the lodges.
- Wood wool insulation panels, particularly in the reception hall, the club, and the pool area.
- Lodges with wood-frame construction and wood siding, promoting the use of bio-based materials.
- Large openings and floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize natural light and minimize the need for artificial lighting.
- Optimized orientation of the buildings and openings to take advantage of natural solar gain.
- Shade sails in outdoor spaces to limit direct sun exposure.
- Natural materials with high thermal inertia, such as wood, lime plaster, or certain thick textiles.
- Cotton sheer curtains to filter natural light and limit excessive heat gain.
- Green roofs on the lodges, contributing to insulation, thermal regulation, and stormwater management.
- A heavily landscaped environment that naturally contributes to the site’s thermal comfort.
- A design that promotes natural ventilation to minimize the need for air conditioning.
These choices help reduce energy needs at the source while improving the thermal comfort of spaces in a natural and sustainable way.
Active technologies Generating, Managing, and Optimizing Energy
In addition to passive solutions, Domaine Le Mezo relies on high-performance equipment to generate part of its energy, better manage energy use, and optimize daily consumption.
Among the measures implemented:
- Biomass boilers, fueled by wood and pellets, to prioritize renewable and local energy.
- Geothermal energy via boreholes at the lodges, powering underfloor heating and cooling systems.
- Photovoltaic panels installed on-site, contributing to the production of renewable electricity.
- An electricity supply sourced 100% from renewable sources.
- Regular monitoring of energy consumption to adjust usage over time.
- Optimization of technical equipment, notably by turning off devices in standby mode and improving usage management.
- Miscanthus plots cultivated on the estate, intended to partially fuel the biomass boilers. Miscanthus covers part of the site’s energy needs, with an estimated self-sufficiency of 3 to 4 months.
These active technologies complement the site’s design by enabling more precise, localized, and responsible energy management, enhancing guest comfort and driving continuous improvement in the estate’s environmental performance.
